Born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana, Matthew Blum is an expert in numerous aspects of Real Estate and Property endeavors. He has years of experience handling purchases and sales of homes, farms, commercial, and industrial properties. Matt has many years experience in the identification, purchase, and management of rental and income properties. He has also overseen and managed large development projects from site selection and zoning, to surveys and preparation, construction - all the way to landscaping and final sale. More recently, Matt has taken his wide breadth of knowledge and experience to Chicago, positioning himself as a leader in this competitive and energetic market. Matt's work ethic and dedication is no accident. It stems from his years of education and experience. He excelled in his teens as a student at Culver Military Academy. During his time at Culver he ran cross country, competed on the varsity wrestling team, and sat on the School's Honor Council. After high school he attended Beloit College before transferring to Valparaiso University where he studied psychology, photography, and design.
In 1998 he obtained a real estate license and worked with Century 21 for the next 12 years - a leading agency in the region. During his tenure with the company, he was awarded with the Century 21 Quality Service Award and The Century 21 Ruby Award. In 2001 he began project managing the construction and sales of Stone Creek subdivision, a 60 lot residential development in Valparaiso, IN. As part of the subdivision development, he managed the relocation of a 100 year old farm house, working closely with utility companies, and local and state government to obtain permits and the technical logistics of literally moving a building 2 miles from its original location. In 2010, Matt undertook the development of a multi-building industrial complex. In addition to these numerous activities, Matt works closely managing rental properties throughout Northwest Indiana.
In 2014 he relocated to Chicago, where he quickly worked to acquire his Illinois Real Estate Brokers license. During the interim he found his place at Club Lucky, bartending and taking the lead as head bartender for a the past 3 years. Matt enjoys working with The Perotti Group, and is excited about The Perotti Group adding in to the talent and expertise at Compass Real Estate. Matt specializes in residential, Commercial, and Income property sales and transactions.
