Amy was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and moved to Hawaii at a young age. Inspired by a sense of adventure and wanting to pursue her undergraduate studies as far away from Hawaii as possible, she decided to go to college all the way across the country in Virginia. After graduating from James Madison University with a dual degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems, she began her career in computer programming/consulting. After 10 years of industry consulting working with clients like GE, NIH, and Marriott International. Amy found her love in real estate. She purchased her first condo after college and bought several investment properties thereafter. Amy is a true believer that everyone should invest in real estate. She began selling real estate in 2003 with Long and Foster and after 15 years moved to Compass, a high-tech company founded on industry-leading best practices and innovation. Amy feels strongly that in the current competitive real estate market, a combination of interpersonal skills, knowledge, and technology are the underlying power tools for any successful transaction. Whether you’re interested in purchasing a larger home for your growing family, selling a longtime residence, or just beginning as first-time home buyers, Amy Scharpf will guide you through the entire real estate transaction process.
Amy is passionate about education and giving back to our local schools- she is very active in volunteering at her daughters’ schools, and has been involved in Girl Scouts “Cookie Mom” for many years. Outside of real estate, Amy enjoys skiing, biking, and swimming.
After two decades of living in the Washington metro area, including homes in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland, where she currently resides, Amy has developed a real world, in-depth understanding of each jurisdiction, an advantage which she is able to regularly impart to her clients. Amy is married to Sam a native Washingtonian, who is a Director at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and is the mother of two daughters, Ashley and Macy, along with their beloved rescue dog, “Gromit”.
