"When I first started looking at homes, I didn’t think I needed a real estate agent at all. I was a real estate agent skeptic. There’s a wealth of information on the internet, and I figured I could easily find all the relevant information I needed on Zillow or online, figure out from pictures and descriptions what I’d want, and real estate contracts are just standard forms right? Is there really any need to have a real estate agent in this day and age?
I was wrong.
I spent days combing through Zillow, assembling a list of a dozen homes I thought would be perfect, and fired off reservations to see each of them. None of them worked out. Whether location, or weird undisclosed features, or deceptive photography, looking online just was not working out.
Further, I quickly realized that, I really did not know what I was looking for. At least beyond the “I’ll know it when I see it” form. When I first reached out to Rachel, my guidelines were pretty much giving her rough location, number of rooms, price range, and general style, and a random assortment of criteria. But what impressed me most about Rachel, she was able to figure out what I wanted even when I did not. Almost overnight, she assembled a list of 7-8 homes that she thought I would like, and took me to view them that very weekend. And she was spot on. She was able to figure out perfect locations that I couldn’t after days of searching through Zillow and looking around. I ended up buying a home she showed me on that very first day in fact.
Going through the process also made me realize just how little I knew about the process. I knew nothing about how to make an offer, counteroffers, inspections, negotiating credits or anything – and Rachel helped me through the entire process.
During my initial process I met with half a dozen or more real estate agents, and Rachel impressed me the most by far-
• She was organized and prepared – Some other real estate agents didn’t even know details about the property. Rachel showed up first day, even though I didn’t express interest in anything other than looking at the one property, with full printouts of that property’s details, price estimates, a sample real estate contract so I could familiarize myself, and other properties she thought I’d like better (she was right).
• She made sure to find me the right home – Some other real estate agents were “pushy” for the sale, pushing me to make an offer for that property or another listing. Rachel wasn’t, she focused on finding me a place I’d want to make an offer at.
• She is on top of everything – Throughout the process, whether it’s getting the counter-offers/offers together, inspections, followups after inspections, Rachel was absolutely on the ball for everything. Holding my hand and offering expert guidance and advice throughout the process, and being absolutely on the ball every step of the way.
I’d heartily recommend Rachel to anyone who is looking for a real estate agent. She brings her wealth of experience and knowledge of the area and the listings to the table. But while I’m sure other agents might also know listings and areas well, Rachel is perceptive and has the ability to really understand her customers and figure out what they want. She doesn’t just pull out listings based on square footage and price and hand them over to you to sort the wheat from the chaff, she really understands your wants and needs, like no other real estate agent I’ve met, to find the right home for you.
If there’s one person who convinced me of the tremendous and indispensable value a real estate agent brings to the table, it’s Rachel."
