Senior UX Content Designer - Design Systems

At Compass, we envision a world where the experience of selling or buying a home is simple and pleasant for everyone. Founded in 2012, Compass provides an end-to-end platform that empowers residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service to their seller and buyer clients, all in service of our mission to help everyone find their place in the world.

Our growing design team is looking for a Senior UX Content Designer to help support our internal design system and shape the craft of content design. As an embedded member of the design team, you’ll help craft content so our users can navigate the design system, consume information, and successfully complete tasks. You’ll also help build content systems, create style guides, and define processes.

We’re passionate about bringing our experiences to life and creating lasting relationships with our customers through strategic use of voice and tone and delivering clear, concise language. If you love humanizing product experiences, wrangling unwieldy words, and empowering other people to write great content, then we’d love to hear from you! (and yes, we have a point of view about exclamation points) (and breaking word rules)

At Compass You Will:

  • Define and execute a content strategy for your teams’ products and features
  • Write clear, concise UX/UI copy for the design system across multiple touch points, including component usage guidance, libraries, and patterns
  • Create content to help onboard and train design system users, as well as communicate new design system releases and updates
  • Serve as a leader in UX content design for the company and establish a foundation for future growth
  • Help develop our brand voice and establish content standards across products and platforms
  • Contribute to our style guide as part of our design system
  • Collaborate with people in a variety of roles including designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, and marketing
  • Write for different audiences and adapt your tone for users’ needs
  • Partner with researchers to conduct user studies to test and optimize content over time
  • Provide thoughtful feedback on overall design and product decisions
  • Help define, improve, and implement content design processes and standards
  • Mentor peers and other writers and actively contribute back to our internal writing community

What We Look For:

  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates a range of content and writing abilities for product experiences, such as component usage guidance, interaction flows/screens, notifications, micro copy, style guides, and patterns
  • Experience writing for a design system or other related work, such as writing guidance and/or documentation for complex systems or tools
  • Experience partnering with research, shifting your approach based on findings, and making measurable improvements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across teams and navigate ambiguity
  • Proven ability to advocate for content design and influence stakeholders
  • Experience developing processes, workflows, and content templates that scale efforts
  • Understanding of voice and tone and ability to extend and adapt it based on users’ needs
  • Knowledge of UX design principles and best practices and ability to influence the user experience beyond content
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Invision
  • 3-5+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, or related word work
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Excellent writing, communication, and strategic skills that scale
  • Native fluency in written and verbal English
  • Experience working in an iterative, agile environment
  • Familiarity with iOS and Android interface guidelines
