Bay Area Real Estate Post Re-Opening of California
As anticipated now that most Covid restrictions have been lifted, summer travel patterns are slowly returning to pre-Covid levels and, as a result, real estate appears to be following a more traditional pattern of reduced activity this summer.  


Buyer demand was frenzied this spring as people sought more space, more land, a backyard oasis, an office space, or just something different. As our data suggest, it was this demand that fueled the upward price trajectory, not lack of inventory as was originally speculated.


Our market has seen its most listings since 2018, and most offers accepted since 2018.  Due to high asking prices, many homes are selling at or just slightly above list price not like in years past when significant overbidding was the dominant trend. 


Santa Clara and San Mateo counties have seen a slight outward migration to other less expensive counties in California, however, now that companies are calling back their workers, will they return?  Only time will tell...
