Knox Street Dallas

The Kalita Humpreys Theater
Nestled in the heart of Turtle Creek is the only theater that world renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright ever designed.  When the Dallas Theater Center approached Wright to design a theater on Turtle Creek, Wright was so busy he suggested adapting his original plans for one a West Coast theater that were later adapted for one in Hartford Connecticut.  Neither theater was ever built. The Dallas theater was completed more than 4 years after his death at a cost of more than a $1,000,000.  The theater opened in December 1959.  The priceless architecture gem was declared an historic landmark in 2007.
