Manhattan’s Luxury Housing Bucks a National Slowdown, With Third-Quarter Sales up 13.6%

Luxury apartment sales in Manhattan soared during the third quarter as inventory continued to fall, according to a report from Douglas Elliman on Thursday. 

Luxury dealmaking—the top 10% of all co-op and condo sales—was up 13.6% from a year ago, and the total of 318 closed sales was a 2.6% increase from the second quarter.

YIMBY has an exclusive look at the first new rendering for 200 West 88th Street, an 18-story residential currently rising on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects and developed by Nortco Development, the 215-foot-tall structure will span 114,000 square feet and yield 37 condominium units. The building will also contain ground-floor retail space and enclosed parking spaces on the second level.

JPMorgan Holds Ribbon Cutting for Supertall Headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in

Midtown East, Manhattan

JPMorgan Chase officials on Tuesday held a ribbon cutting to mark the official completion of the company’s 1,389-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story skyscraper yields 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 14,000 employees, and is the tallest structure in New York completely powered by upstate hydroelectric energy.
