RHINO

Like many other places around Denver, the RiNo neighborhood is getting its own giant animal sculpture, and no beast is more fitting than, you guessed it, a rhino! And while I am conflicted that it has broken the Mile High tradition of giant blue animals, I love the piece. Statues like Mustang (aka. Blucifer), outside DIA; “I See What You Mean” (aka. Big Blue Bear), outside the convention center, and Baa’al, the giant goat at Buckley Air Force Base have been given official and unofficial nicknames. Naming rights for the new RiNo Rhino are being given to the public, submit your best name idea online until June 5th!

FLORA

The Flora House, a Victorian mansion bed and breakfast in Denver’s Cheeseman Park neighborhood, received Historic Denver’s Community Preservation Award. Built in 1892, the BnB features seven rooms carrying flowers as their namesakes, inspired by the decor and feelings they evoke. Check out the elegant yet intimate inside of this historic Denver gem.
