The Experience:
Woah. The scale and simplicity of the space were exactly what I had in mind. In a city where space is a luxury, this room speaks for itself. Walking in, I was greeted by familiar faces from Anton’s, making it feel instantly like home.
Then—the ceilings. 18 feet high. Massive windows pulling the streets of NYC right into the room. Columns and frescoes play in harmony, balancing concrete floors with soft, warm finishes—a perfect yin and yang of old and new. It’s big. It’s simple. It’s… (deep breath) a reprieve from the mania.
The bar sets the mood—a classic wood bar, a big bouquet of flowers, and a clock mirror (plus their 3-6 PM half-off happy hour) make it a seat you won’t want to leave.
No fuss. Just execution on every level.
The Food & Drinks:
The star of the night?
Madagascar Cacio Pepe.
“What is Madagascar Cacio Pepe?” you ask? It’s slightly spicy and lemony, with notes of black pepper, nutmeg, and clove—a perfect dish. It might have just dethroned my previous Cacio Pepe all-timer from Altro Paradiso.
The Olive Oil Martini. The gelato. The entire situation demands a revisit. We might just be back tonight.
