Mortgage Rates Move Lower, But Is It Enough To Help The Housing Market?

Rates for home loans dipped, but consumers’ economic uncertainty continues to weigh down the housing market. Last week,

 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.76%, down from 6.81% last week, Freddie Mac said. That’s right in line with the year-to-date average of 6.80%.

Bouncing Back

The major U.S. stock indexes rebounded from their tariff-induced lows strongly last week. They posted weekly gains of around 3% as stocks extended the previous week’s positive trend. For the S&P 500, Friday’s gain marked the ninth positive day in a row―that index’s longest such streak since November 2004. (Full Story)

In New York City this week, the real estate world coalesced around former governor and current mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo, who released his housing plan which included calling for the city to build and preserve 500,000 homes over 10 years and to create a $5B capital fund to finance housing over five years.
