When I was young, one of my favorite activities was attending Oakland A's games with my dad. We didn't have much money, so we would always park farther away and walk to the stadium to avoid the high parking fees. My dad would sneak in my favorite snacks, Cracker Jacks and Jolly Ranchers. We created countless memories at the Oakland Coliseum. It was disheartening to see Oakland lose their last athletic team, and I wasn't sure if I would support the team once they moved to Sacramento. As opening day neared, I asked myself, "What would my dad do?" Naturally, he would go out and support his favorite team. So that's exactly what I decided to do. My best friend and I made a trip to Sacramento and had an incredible time. Even though they lost 18-3 to the Chicago Cubs, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's always wonderful to be out under the bright lights, cheering for your team. Our seats were right behind the dugout, which was an added bonus. I'm not sure if I'll make it out there again, but I'm glad I didn't miss this unforgettable experience.
What I'm Seeing In the Market
What a month it has been! News about tariffs has sparked significant concern among those considering buying or selling their homes. Buyers have noticed a decline in their 401(k) values and some worry about potential job insecurity. Sellers contemplating putting their homes on the market fear they might not achieve the desired price. If you're monitoring inventory, you may have observed price reductions, homes returning to the market, and listings being canceled. This situation reminds me of March 2020 when COVID-19 temporarily stalled the housing market. Every time you turn on the TV, there's talk about tariffs causing price increases across the board. Despite the prevalent fear, I believe this is an excellent time to purchase a home due to reduced competition. We know that this uncertainty will eventually subside, as there is a continuous demand for housing in the Bay Area. Renting can be unpredictable, and rents will likely rise with inflation, whereas your mortgage could remain stable for 30 years or even decrease with refinancing.
I also believe this is an excellent time to sell. By listing your home as a Compass Private Exclusive, you can showcase it on Compass.com without accumulating days on the market. This allows you to gauge buyer interest and test the market to determine potential offers. If you're considering buying or selling, contact me today for a comprehensive market outlook.
