September 2024

September is my favorite month of the year!


The weather starts to shift into Fall, school is in full swing for the kids, and a multitude of events are taking place all around. The grape harvest in Napa and Sonoma wine country is at its peak, rekindling my love for our region. If you're anything like me, it's tough to resist making plans during this lively season.


It's also my birth month, a time for self-reflection. What wellness tips do you have, both personally and professionally, as your birthday nears?

Below are links to the Real Estate Reports for January in Sonoma and Napa Counties. Keep in mind that most "hard" data in real estate is based on closed, recorded sales, a lagging indicator which generally reflects deal-making activity in the previous month, when offers were negotiated. 


Interest Rates: Interest rates have been moving in the right direction, with rates running at their lowest since spring 2023. Current U.S weekly averages are 6.35% for a 30-year mortgage and 5.51% for a 15-year (Freddie Mac, 8/29/24). Locally we are seeing 30 year rates in the low 6.0% range, with the potential to obtain rates of high 5%. Right now, unless there's a surprise increase in inflation, it's looking almost certain the Fed will reduce their benchmark rate at their September 17th-18th meeting for the first time since spring 2022.  The financial markets believe this will be a ½ point reduction and this has been priced into current rates.
