Dear Friends-
As we celebrate Mother’s Day, I find myself thinking about the values and life lessons I have learned, not just through words, but through the examples set by the most important women in my life who have guided and shaped me into the person I am today.
My mother, Rouhi, immigrated from Iran to the U.S. with my dad and built a life in a new country with remarkable resilience. Her sheer tenacity allowed her to become the top salesperson at Toll Brothers, all while raising my brother Ali and I with grace and sheer willpower. I often refer to my Mom’s generation of Iranian women as "The Greatest Generation” as their lives were forever changed by the Iranian Revolution and the war that followed. Through that unimaginable turmoil, these women carried on with strength, purpose, and resolve. From my mother, I learned the value of hard work, tenacity, and living in the present and I bring these lessons to every part of my life, from advocating for my clients to being a supportive husband, father, son and friend.
Sara’s mother, Afsaneh, has shown me the quiet power of altruism, kindness, and empathy. Her ability to put others first, while leading with warmth and generosity, continues to be a north star for Sara and I and a shining example for our kids of the example they need to set with others.
My wife and real estate partner Sara, the mother of our twins, is one of my greatest teachers. A wonderful mother and adept businesswoman, she has taught me about style (of course), to protect and value my time, and to see life in full color. She entered my life at a time when things felt black and white and she gave me the opportunity to imagine life in all its glory. My empathy with all the people in my life (especially my clients) is informed by the spectacular lessons Sara teaches me every day.
My mom, mother-in-law and Sara are credited with shaping me as a husband, father, son, and real estate advisor. I am deeply inspired by all they have taught me and for the valuable lessons I take from them every day.
To those celebrating, I hope Mother’s Day is filled with joy and gratitude. And to those for whom this day is difficult, may it land gently.
Happy Mother's Day to you and yours.
