July is Disability Pride Month

At COMPASS, we're honoring Disability Pride Month by providing helpful resources and hosting action-oriented conversations so we can ensure there are equitable spaces for all people with disabilities. Disabilities@Compass created a Top 10 Tips video (below) for how we can all foster a better workplace for our agents and staff with disabilities.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) passed on July 26, 1990, prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities. Disability Pride Month celebrates the anniversary of this monumental law & honors the diversity, uniqueness & visibility of each person in the disability community.

There's not much time left until NYC starts counting your buildings’ emissions towards fines. The Climate Mobilization Act (CMA) requires the economy-wide Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to be lower by 40% before 2030 and 80% lower by 2050. These new laws will result in NYC having one of the most sustainable skylines in the world. 174 Power Global.

$100mm Greenway Progresses Along Turtle Bay Waterfront

Finally! I've been running along the East River for years and if you're familiar, at 59th street the path stops. I'd have to cut inland and run along 1st Ave (not so safe) until 37th street, then under a cave-like overpass and merge back on to the path towards Stuy Town. Click HERE for the details and several renderings. I cant wait!

My NYC TRI Challenge

SWIM, BIKE, RUN...GIVE BACK!

This Sunday, I will be competing in the NYC Triathlon in support of Giveback Homes, a community of real estate professionals who are committed to creating social change by helping build homes for deserving families around the globe.

In the fall of 2021, I traveled to El Salvador with a small group of Compass agents to help build(from the ground up) homes for families in communities who are living in poverty.

I am competing to raise funds to continue to build adequate shelter for these families and improve living conditions in these communities.

Last call before I hit the water and pavement. If you're interested in contributing, click here: GoFundMe Fundraiser Page and donate. 100% of your contributions go directly to Build Projects In

Central and North America.

Really Interesting (to me!) Corner

What Does Space Smell Like?

Astronaut Don Pettit described:

"It is definitely not the olfactory equivalent to describing the palette sensations of 'tastes like chicken.' The best description I can come up with is; a pleasant sweet metallic sensation. It reminded me of my college summers where I labored for many hours with an arc welding torch repairing heavy equipment. It reminded me of pleasant sweet smelling welding fumes." SPACE.COM Article.

Which Animals are Introverted? Here's 5.

Some are social beings & live in groups, sharing responsibilities like gathering food and raising young. Sometimes, as in the case of elephants, whales and chimpanzees, they even display emotional intelligence and develop strong connections. Others, like bees, have complex social structures that help them develop greater immunity against disease.

But there are some animals, like humans, that prefer to fly solo.

Never Underestimate the Intelligence

of Trees

Trees are the hydrological heart of the entire world. Underneath the forest soil, there’s a pulsing network between the trees that is much more advanced than we ever imagined. Scientists are only just beginning to understand its importance. Here’s a fascinating insight into this hidden world in a curated piece by Brandon Keim, originally published by Nautilus.
