Times Square New Year's Eve Ball Gets A New Look Going Into 2022 New crystals from Irish company Waterford have joined over 2,000 sparkling triangles covering the ball that drops over New York's Times Square every year. Each year the geodesic sphere, which measures 12 feet in diameter and weighs 11,875 pounds, gets 192 new crystal facets that represent themes for the New Year.
