Our marvelous teammate (official title: Life Support) Rebecca writes this month about how, when she was born in 1973, her mother could have been denied a mortgage, or even a credit card, without a male co-signer. That would change in 1974, with passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Now, with 48 years of protection under our belts, how are women faring in the dream of owning a home? Well, the news is generally good, trending upward, but there are still hurdles to be overcome. In recognition of Women’s History Month, Rebecca reflects on home ownership for women, and single women in particular. |
