Let’s start with politics and the upcoming administration of Eric Adams - and then, I hope you’ll indulge me as I celebrate my new role of Proud Papa
.
Our new Mayor (as of January 1st) represents a fresh, positive kick-start for New York City and our world of real estate. Adams’ mission to crack down on crime can only enhance our reputation as one of the safest major cities in the world. And he recognizes the economic importance of New York’s wealthiest sector – the 150,000 residents who pay 49% of the taxes that fuel the city coffers. Adams takes office at a time when folks are returning to New York from their suburban exile. When Broadway is back with standing-ovation energy. When offices are gradually reopening. And, I’m happy to report, when New York’s real estate climate is palpably hot.
A seller’s market is definitely emerging.
Sales during the past six months have been robust. Contract signings are up. The amount of days that listings are on the market is down. 67 contracts were signed at $4 million and above the week before Thanksgiving, a record-setting number for that period. I expect 2022 will be a seller’s market with plenty of momentum for a long ride. At times like this, buyers need the savvy guidance of a real estate pro to lock up a winning trifecta: a stunning new home, the ideal neighborhood, and a great deal.
Our beautiful daughter Sullivan James Rubinstein arrived November 20th. My wife Esther and I couldn’t be more excited. What a fantastic way to end the year and welcome the future!
Here’s wishing Happy, Healthy Holidays to everyone.
