Saying goodbye to 2022
Very much welcoming 2023
|
2022 will be a year I will never forget. It was early in the evening on June 9 when Treva and I were at the weekly summer Thursday night BBQ at Emerald Bay beach when we received an obscure voicemail message. It did not sound or feel right so we immediately went home and our lives were forever changed. We received the news that our son Cooper had died a few hours previously from an accidental overdose of one Xanax laced with Fentanyl. There are no words to describe or any way for anyone to know the personal devastation felt. Nor do I ever want anyone else to have this horrible experience. The remainder of 2022 has been about each day, putting one foot in front of the other and continuing to move forward. Just prior to Coop's passing, he started an online Discord platform called Coop's Advice for his peers to have a safe place to share their feelings and struggles with mental health. Coop's Advice now has a membership of over 250,000 worldwide with several thousand people online at any given time, sharing and finding love and support with their struggles. Immediately in the days after Coop passed, his management team and closest friends started the Coop's Advice Foundation to continue Coop's dreams of the Coop's Advice Discord, supporting the relationship he began with the non-profit organization EndOverdose.net and, to continue to help his friends and peers with mental health issues. Our involvement with the Coop's Advice Foundation has been a blessing to us as the support it provides is helping a number of youths to survive their struggles and keeping the memory and legacy of our Beautiful Boy alive. But what about everything else? What about me? What am I doing? Well, a tragedy like this affects you to the very essence of your core. It makes you take inventory and assess everything in your life. One therapist has told me that depression is worrying about everything that has happened in the past and that nothing can be changed. Anxiety is worrying about the future and there is nothing you can do about what has not yet. happened. The present is where to live. You can effect change, survive, continue to heal, and eventually find happiness. Every day I speak with many kids who reach out to me on the Coop's Advice Discord about their personal struggles. I share with them that in life, we all have choices to make. My hope for every one of them is that they choose to make "Positive & Healthy" choices rather than "Negative & Unhealthy" ones. For me ... I have chosen in the reassessment of my life to make "Positive & Healthy" choices. Easier said than done, but it is my plan. It doesn't make the pain go away. The pain will forever be there. I ache deep in my soul each day missing my boy, seeing his face, hearing his voice, his laughter, and all the things we did together. But I feel his presence all around us through the hundreds of messages and tributes we receive every day from people all around the world he touched. In honor of those efforts, you will see most of those messages and tributes reposted on my Instagram Story. I am deeply committed to the following:
1. To continue to build and grow my Emerald Bay real estate business and be the best real estate agent, advisor, and consultant to all who work with me. 2. To be the best husband and father to our daughter Parker. 4. To educate our youth and especially their parents on the reality of Fentanyl. Fentanyl is real. Fentanyl is here. Fentanyl is everywhere. Today, the #1 cause of death in the United States of all people between the ages of 18 and 45 is Fentanyl. This statistic is insane! This has to stop! Cooper did not need to die. Neither should anyone else's child die from Fentanyl poisoning.
These are just a few of my goals for 2023 to share
with you. My hope for you is that in 2023, your lives will all be more present. That you will not struggle so much about the past or what the future may bring but cherish each day of good health and the time you have with your family. Thank you to everyone for your love and support. I look forward to seeing and being with you all in 2023.

So how is the Emerald Bay market? Despite all that is happening in the economy and financial markets, inventory is still historically low, Emerald Bay property continues to be in demand as the property tours are constant and if a property meets the criteria of the buyer, they are executing. Over the decades, Emerald Bay real estate has proven to be extremely resilient due to the unique beauty and amenities of our special community, and that Emerald Bay is a finite commodity of 537 properties of which there will be no more.
