It feels life affirming seeing spring ushered into our beautiful Pacific Northwest in such a graceful manner. It reminds me that "normal" means we are all part of a constantly changing world. I'd love to hear what changes you are experiencing and how you are doing. If you missed my move to Compass, my email is melody.paxton@compass.com

Our Real Estate Market

Take Away:  Fairy-tale-endings happen every day, even in this current real estate market that is challenging for everyone involved, from lenders to appraisers and everyone in between. The fight to "win" a property intensifies as our median house price continues its upward trajectory, inventory remains low, and interest rates inch up. In any fight, one can emerge a bit bruised by the experience. Even seller's holding the upper hand with property equity are not immune as they work with buyer's that are stressed and second guessing themselves. I remind myself that the real estate market is akin to a living organism that changes with each closed property and that over time fluctuating cycles are inevitable. In times like these having a Realtor you trust is imperative. There is a lot at stake, and I'm more grateful than ever for the relationships with highly principled professionals with whom I come across when representing my clients.

I'm in my second year of moving toward zero waste. It's thrilling to see how many companies are moving with me and providing better choices in materials, packaging, and zero carbon footprint getting there. These are my new shoes made from coffee and recycled plastic. (link in photo) to #rensoriginal

Blockchain in Real Estate

The topic of blockchain in real estate, much like cryptocurrency fascinates me. Information being immutable and using tokens, nodes, and digitized documents eliminates the need for escrow allows for fractional ownership in a real estate asset as being liquid. Interested in reading more?

Transportation

With so many of us having grown accustomed to working from home, the need to commute "on occasion" has never been greater. The desire for more affordable homes and more space has contributed to the first population decline in King County in half a century. This week the Legislature earmarked $150 million for a proposed rail line that would reduce travel time from Seattle to Vancouver to one hour, a trip that currently takes just over three hours.

Imagine you're a Seattle-based drone maker with offices in Fremont and like many of us you're thinking, gosh I wish I could do something to help with the situation in Ukraine. Enter Chase Bailey who is teaching soldiers to use his drones. “There are many destroyed buildings and the conditions are too dangerous,” said Yan Koshman, a rescue official from an area near the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv who was waiting his turn at the controls. “This drone can go where we can’t.”
