Alan Martinez is the founder of Alan Martinez & Associates at Compass, a San Francisco-based real estate advisory practice inspired by the belief that luxury is not simply a price point — it is an experience.

For Alan, luxury lives in the everyday details: the scent of fresh florals when you walk into a home, the sound of a well-designed car door closing, the first espresso of the morning, the way natural light moves through a room, and the feeling of ease that comes from being truly taken care of. This philosophy helped inspire The Alan Effect — Alan's signature approach to real estate, design, lifestyle, and client service.

Alan's passion for homes began long before his real estate career. At just eight years old, he was already sending his father Realtor.com listings and encouraging his family to consider homes he believed had potential. He would study floor plans, redraw facades, and imagine how a property could be enhanced through design, layout, and lifestyle. What began as childhood curiosity evolved into a lifelong obsession with architecture, interiors, neighborhoods, and the emotional experience of home.

After buying and selling multiple properties in San Francisco, Alan joined Vanguard Properties in 2017, where he partnered with one of the brokerage's top-producing teams and helped grow its sales volume from approximately $200 million to more than $600 million. During that time, Alan played a key role in establishing the team's marketing presence, elevating its digital visibility, expanding its client-service platform, and helping position it as one of the leading teams at Vanguard Properties.

Through that experience, Alan gained deep exposure to luxury homes, condominiums, new construction, development sales, design-driven property preparation, and high-touch client representation. It also helped clarify the next evolution of his career: a more lifestyle-focused approach to real estate, where design, service, hospitality, marketing, and the client experience come together as one cohesive offering.

That vision led Alan to Compass, where he launched Alan Martinez & Associates with a renewed focus on helping clients achieve more — not only through real estate, but through the lifestyle that comes with it. Compass played a key role in giving Alan the platform, technology, marketing reach, and entrepreneurial environment to expand this vision and bring The Alan Effect to life.

Today, Alan's work blends strategic market knowledge, elevated design sensibility, polished marketing, strong negotiation, and deeply personal service. His approach is rooted in the belief that a home is more than a transaction. It is the foundation for how people live, gather, grow, invest, and experience the world around them.

Prior to real estate, Alan led, coached, and inspired a team of more than 30 salespeople at a successful Bay Area automotive dealership. That experience shaped his client-first philosophy, strong communication style, and ability to guide people through complex, high-stakes decisions with confidence and care.

A Bay Area native, Alan has called San Francisco home since 2011. He has lived in six different neighborhoods and currently resides at One Rincon Hill in South Beach. A self-proclaimed ā€œextroverted extrovert,ā€ Alan is known for bringing people together, whether entertaining friends at home, hosting by the pool, or connecting clients with the people, places, and resources that make city living feel effortless.
