Alex Plotkin’s journey into real estate is anything but ordinary. It began over 40 years ago, when, at age 12, he immigrated to the United States from Russia and settled in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Even then, Alex showed early signs of entrepreneurial drive—selling candy, juices, and sodas by the time he was 10. After earning his undergraduate degree from Penn State and being accepted into law school, he quickly realized that wasn’t the right path. So, he and a close friend packed up everything they owned and moved to South Tampa with nothing but determination and a dream of building something of their own.

That dream became PhillySwirl, a frozen treat company inspired by Alex’s love for Philly-style Italian ice. Over the years, he grew it from a scrappy startup into a household name with $24 million in sales. Alex wasn’t just the face of the company—he was in the trenches, doing everything from handing out samples and designing packaging to creating new flavors and negotiating with major retailers like Walmart, Costco, and Sam’s Club. His hands-on, all-in approach helped make PhillySwirl a success, eventually leading to a sale ta private equity firm.

After exiting the business, Alex turned his attention to real estate—first as a hard money lender in the house flipping business. Over time, his team flipped more than 1,000 homes in the Tampa Bay area. Always eager to understand the full scope of an industry, he earned his real estate license to gain deeper insight and expertise. A Tampa Bay resident for more than 30 years, Alex brings a deep understanding of the local market and a strong network of community connections to everything he does. After his time in flipping, he shifted to rental property investing and became a hands-on landlord. Many of his tenants returned to him years later for advice when they were ready to buy a home—and helping them make that leap felt like a natural next step. Since becoming a full-time agent, Alex has quickly risen to the top 1% of all real estate professionals in Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee Counties. He also invests in land for new development and partners with one of the area’s top builders on high-end spec homes.

Now, Alex is fully committed to real estate with a renewed sense of purpose—his daughter Mya has joined him in the business. Together, they form a fun, dynamic father-daughter duo, combining Alex’s decades of experience with Mya’s fresh perspective. She’s learning firsthand the art of negotiation, marketing strategy, and what it means to truly serve clients. And Alex gets the rare joy of watching his daughter grow professionally while working side-by-side with her. In just the past three years, this powerhouse team has closed over $150 million in sales—a reflection of their dedication, expertise, and results-driven approach.
