About Becky
Helping people love historic homes — and avoid the things that bite.

I specialize in historic homes and preservation-informed real estate in the Houston Heights, where I’ve lived for more than 30 years. As a Broker Associate with Compass, I help buyers and sellers navigate older homes, historic districts, and rule-bound neighborhoods with clarity, confidence, and a practical sense of what really matters.

I also serve as a Citizen Representative on the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission (HAHC), which gives me a front-row seat to how preservation policy works in practice—and how it affects everyday homeowners.

Before real estate, I built a career that spanned finance, healthcare, and media: from auditing with a Big 8 firm, to founding LifeGift Organ Donation Center (the first joint venture in the Texas Medical Center), to launching the Houston office of a national Big 4 consulting service line. I later became editor-in-chief of Bayou City Magazine, combining business strategy with storytelling—skills that now inform how I market and position distinctive Heights homes.

I write about historic homes and real estate at Becky Davis Home Edition on Substack, and I’m developing Mostly Harmless Real Estate, a podcast about the emotional, unpredictable, and occasionally weird world of buying and selling homes. My approach is data-driven, preservation-informed, and occasionally cheeky, with deep institutional knowledge of the Heights and a commitment to straightforward guidance.

Whether you’re buying your first Heights bungalow, selling a long-loved family home, or trying to make sense of historic preservation requirements, I bring more than 30 years of community connections and a decade of real estate practice to help you make informed, confident decisions in Houston’s historic and historic-adjacent neighborhoods.
