About Bill

Bill Charman is founder and CEO of Gimme Shelter, a boutique real estate agency serving the San Francisco Bay area since 2003. Hailing from a family of brokers who’ve specialized in investment, management and construction since 1938, he combines deep industry expertise with a love the deal.   Before Gimme Shelter, Bill spent over 14 years in the music business and owned Univibe, a cult guitar shop serving hundreds of underground and national bands. By conservative estimates, he has over 18,000 hours of professional negotiation experience.

Bill is also a founding member of the Compass Sports & Entertainment Division, which consists of 170+ top agents across 75+ U.S. markets. He has personally guided dozens of musicians, athletes, writers, and celebrities through complex residential real estate transactions nationwide, earning a reputation for confidentiality, strategy, discretion, and precision.
