"My wife and I live in New York City. Seven years ago, my wife inherited a small property in Gilroy, California from her mother’s estate. Given my work overseas and travel restrictions that came with Covid, we continued to rent the small house to a long-term tenant without traveling to California to inspect it. In October 2023, we decided that it was time to sell, yet were still unable to travel. Bill Rippe had sold a similar property in 2018 for my wife’s nephews and done an excellent job, so we contacted him. This was the best decision on our part. In short order, we received a detailed and thorough tutorial on the housing market, pricing, the condition of the property, and the options open to us. The property was in bad shape, in need of clean-up and repair. Bill proposed multiple solutions vis-à-vis repair, restoration, city ordinances, the kinds of buyers we could attract, and how best to secure them. In two months—across end-of-year holidays—Bill prepared the property for viewing, placing it for sale in early January 2024 in a quiet selling season, and secured multiple offers in one day. We chose an excellent offer the next day, and closed three weeks later in an “as is” sale, which suited us.
