John Carapella - 917.716.1389
A top-producing Manhattan real estate expert, John Carapella has earned many industry awards since entering the field in 2003. He's also continually won clients over with his approachable and sincere personality, strong product knowledge, and highly professional behavior. John is driven by the belief that where you live is a catalyst to how you live. He has a natural ability to understand and identify with his customers' unique needs, and generous patience in seeing them through the entire process to their ultimate success.
'I'm one of seven children. Growing up I learned the importance of respecting other's needs and appreciating different perspectives." Recognizing that integrity and honesty are the key to successful relationships, John respects his buyers' and sellers' needs, and puts their interests first, even if that means walking away from a deal to pursue something better. He also draws on his vast market knowledge and expert negotiating skills to hone in on the most emotionally and financially rewarding outcome in the end.
Sellers benefit from John's marketing ingenuity and customized approach to maximizing exposure for their listings. This has led to him attaining record sales prices, and to being recognized in numerous publications.
In his career, John has fully embraced how the web has brought essential real estate information to the masses and helped to make the market more transparent for the customer. "My customers value my insight in terms of deciphering and properly interpreting the info available to them. You have to peel back the layers of information and respect the supply and demand for a particular property before you begin to establish value and potential'.
Previously, John worked in different areas of management and sales, but always excelled in customer service. He is a native New Yorker with a degree in Marketing. Outside of work, John enjoys time with his wife and three children. He's also a former collegiate baseball player who enjoys volunteering his time coaching his children in various local youth sports teams.
Richard Herschenfeld - 917.544.9700
Richard is a lover of all things Manhattan, but his heart belongs to the Upper West Side (UWS). He has seen how it has developed over the years, improving with the addition of new buildings and restaurants, making each hood distinct and special. It is the only residential area that is surrounded by two of the greatest parks in NYC - it’s hard to beat having Riverside and Central Park only blocks away. He also loves the diversity of the area, with families and young people from different backgrounds coming to the UWS to begin a new life, just as he once did.
Prior to, and concurrently to his real estate career, Richard has been the owner of the Prohibition Restaurant/Bar, an Upper West Side staple. The venue is well known for great live music and warm hospitality. It has also provided extensive support to local public and private charities, holding many fundraisers.
Nothing gives him more pleasure than when someone approaches him to tell him that they’ve met their husband or wife at his bar. That same great feeling carries over to real estate, as he plays an important role in what is often one of the biggest commitments in peoples’ lives. Richard has found tremendous similarities between the restaurant and real estate businesses as they both revolve around building lasting relationships.
Thanks to all of his years at Prohibition, Richard has dealt with every type of customer in every situation imaginable. He’s had to be manager, friend, a sounding board and a problem solver. His traits as a caring, understanding, and skilled people person have translated well into being a successful real estate agent.
