"I wanted to take a moment to share with you our experience with Carson Hiner, as it was truly outstanding. My husband and I both met Carson about 8-9 years ago when we visited Austin and looked for a condo to purchase. Prior to meeting Carson, we had already interviewed and engaged the services of an independent agent/broker to assist us, and we’ll call her LD. This was not our first rodeo buying real estate, so we have a pretty good idea of what good looks like, and let’s just say LD is not it. Not even close.
Enter Carson. We had our eye on a condo complex that we were anxious to check-out. Unfortunately, our existing agent refused to show us the property as she “felt” the building was not a good fit (did I mention she was difficult to work with?) Fortunately, the real estate gods were smiling upon as Carson happened to be holding an open house in that very same building. This is where we first met. While we did not purchase the unit he was showing, we did end up purchasing another unit in the building. Through our brief interaction with Carson, he was incredibly kind and generous with his knowledge of Austin and the local real estate market. As we started the closing process with LD, she continued to disappoint ( no referrals for inspectors, lenders, guidance on contract terms, etc.). It was a bit of a nightmare. I reached out to Carson to see if he knew anyone, and it was with his assistance that we identified the missing pieces. Even though he had nothing to gain financially from the transaction, he helped us because he is just a good human being, salt of the earth good, and consummate professional. My husband and I both committed to ourselves that we would definitely engage his services for our next real estate transaction, not knowing how soon that would be.
Fast forward to last summer, our cute little downtown Austin condo no longer suited our needs. My mother had reached a point in her life where living on her own was just no longer an option. We traveled to San Diego to help pack her home to make the move to Austin. Enter Covid. We were stuck in California with no safe way to travel back and forth to look at homes. It was a difficult time. We reached out to Carson for assistance in finding a house that fit our new family dynamic, and Carson was just amazing throughout the entire process. He provided comprehensive video walk-throughs for properties we were interested in (it was just like being there with all the details of what you want to see in person), sharing the good and not-so-good of every home. He was a true consultant to us and was part of team Gordon the entire time. We went through about 7 offers before we landed our current home, we were over asking on every single property, but the market being what it was at the time unless you had a full cash offer, it was just par for the course. It was an emotionally charged time for us, and Carson was empathic and supportive every step of the way, giving us space and time we needed between each transaction to allow for us to emotionally recover from the loss.
We had a lot of moving pieces that needed to come together while purchasing our home long distance, in the middle of a pandemic, all wrapped up in a ridiculously competitive real estate market.
