"I found a listing for a home I was interested in and emailed John - I had an appointment scheduled within the hour. That level of responsiveness, commitment, and professionalism carried throughout my buying process. John acted as the agent for both the builder and me as the buyer, but his ability to manage both sides was impressive, and an asset. He has continued to be a resource for me beyond the buying process. John got me into my dream home, so it is unlikely I'll need his service in the near future, he will absolutely be referred to everyone I know." - Jaclyn
"John did an excellent job throughout the entire sale process. His work ethic showed from our first appointment. He arrived well-prepared with area comps, recommendation on the sale price, and tips to improve the marketability of the house. He walked through the entire process from beginning to close, and kept me updated every step of the way. The house was priced right and sold quickly.
John found the buyer, negotiated an above-asking sale price, and a quick closing. From start to finish, John made the sale of my home a pleasant experience.

"I had a short moving period and was not happy with someone else who was "taking care of me." The previous agent left me in a tight position and I had very little time to move. Every single day counted for me as it was down to the wire. I won't go into detail about that terrible experience. I will highlight the good! Johnny came to the rescue for me. I told him about my tight predicament and his first response regarding one of my top 5 favorite listings that my original agent didn't show me was, "oh, no problem--I know the listing agent." Such a relief--when you shake hands with Johnny Grafft, you are shaking hands with someone that has a large and very respectable book of clientele, knows all of his competitors and has great business relations with them, probably could be the mayor of Chicago, and will stop in his tracks to make sure his client is cared for. I literally needed rescue to find a place and Johnny stopped what he was doing wherever he was to make sure I could find a great place to live. If you are looking for someone who cares like Johnny cared for me, send him an email. " - John
"John helped me find my home in the gold coast. Coming from New York I did not know where to start. He showed me homes all over an we settled on one. He negotiated a great deal and I couldn’t be happier. I’m finally leaving a review as we’re having lunch together right now almost a year later. He became a friend throughout the entire process." - Natalia
"John understands the property and the demographic. He is easy to work with and extremely professional. He will work with you to establish the best price point and is dedicated to negotiating fairly but firmly to achieve the highest and best value. My property sold for over ask and in a very short time frame. I plan on using John for both buying and selling in the future."
John was chosen in 2016 by the National Association of Realtors® for 30 Under 30 Realtors® in the United States.
While attending DePaul University, in search of an apartment, he noticed a lack of support for students in his situation. Upon this realization, John began his business plan for Renters Refuge, Chicago’s first student-focused, and student-owned real estate brokerage. With the market crash of 2008, the economy tumbled, and buyers and sellers turned to renters and landlords. In 2011, two years after incorporating Renters Refuge, John was honored by a mention in the WSJ. Prudential Rubloff then acquired Renters Refuge and a life outside of apartment rentals was born.
With his extensive experience in renting investment properties, John built a loyal client base, which in result allowed him to sell the client’s spec homes as the market began to turn around. John’s education and understanding of the real estate market are first and foremost. The proceeding is service, reliability, and consistency. By learning everything possible about a home before a showing, clients along with agents know to expect a proficient, professional and mutually beneficial working relationship.
Your home or property needs are his first interest and specialty. John is not a volume broker with dozens of listings and a large team. What he offers is a boutique service with a level of expertise and professionalism that should be expected in a results-driven business. He can provide global reach and exposure, local expertise and world-class marketing.
This level of service has created a referral-based business that relies on the successful and satisfactory completion of every transaction. John’s clients are his marketing team.
