We spent a lot of time away from our residence, and Chris not only marketed and sold our home at the full asking price but was incredibly helpful in recommending and managing a whole variety of contractors to take care of several items before listing and after the buyer's inspection report came in. She literally rode herd on plumbers, HVAC contractors, tile installers, window/glass installers, painters, etc., while we were out of the state. We had to replace a few pieces of tile that were no longer made, and Chris went to the tile store to select an appropriate replacement! She spent several days at our home supervising the movers as they packed and crated our belongings and was there at 10 PM on a Friday evening when a transport company finally arrived hours late to load one of our cars onto the carrier to ship it out of state. We lived in Milwaukee and were just in the early stages of thinking about finding a more weather friendly location to spend time once retirement comes. We had heard great things about the Austin area and back in March scheduled a visit to begin to get some first-hand knowledge. I figured a real estate agent could be a useful resource, so I reached out to a business acquaintance who lives in Austin, and she introduced me to her agent, Chris. On my first call with Chris, I was clear that we were not looking to buy but to begin to understand the Austin community. I told her I realized she needs to spend time with paying clients, but if she could spend just an hour or so with us while in town sharing some of her perspectives that would be great. Chris spent the better part of 45 minutes with me on that initial call asking questions and then came back a few days later with a proposed schedule to spend an entire day seeing Austin through her eyes. She showed several homes for sale so we could begin to understand what some of the different neighborhoods had to offer in terms of housing stock, etc. Chris met us at our hotel and spent almost two hours providing an overview of the area, and then we headed out for the day to see seven different homes in different parts of the city. One of the things she picked up on during the initial call was that we've always lived in brand new construction, having built four homes and bought two other newly built condos. As fate would have it, one of the last homes she showed us during the showings was a brand new parade of model homes in the Hill Country north of Austin, and it just sang to us as we walked through the front door, feeling like it was built just for us. We came back two days later and signed a purchase contract. That was the easy part. The hard work started the next day when we headed back north but needed a way to deal with the myriad of details that followed such as being present for the home inspection, pool inspection, the mortgage appraisal process, connecting with the utilities, working with the builder on a variety of punch list items, finding pool and lawn care service providers, etc. Chris became an extension of us and managed most all the details on our behalf. We closed on the purchase in mid-May but have not yet sold our home back in Wisconsin and are not here daily. With that, Chris is still actively supporting us, checking on the house regularly, retrieving packages off the front porch, collecting our mail, and generally doing whatever it takes to help in our transition.
