About Dan

Dan Bernstein brings together deep Chicago roots, a successful marketing career, and a genuine love for real estate in his work as a full-time broker.

After spending his career in corporate marketing, most recently as Director of Marketing for iconic Chicago brand Lou Malnati’s, Dan decided to leave the corporate world and go all in on real estate. His marketing career taught him how to understand people, think strategically, tell a good story, and, most importantly, get things done. He brings that same mindset to real estate, whether he’s helping a seller stand out in a crowded market or helping a buyer find the right home.

A lifelong Chicagoan and North Shore native, Dan grew up in Glenview and has a deep understanding of the communities that make up Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. He specializes in both the city and North Shore, with a particular appreciation for what makes each neighborhood and suburb unique. From Chicago’s distinct neighborhoods to the character and community of the surrounding suburbs of Chicago, Dan offers a local perspective that goes well beyond what you’ll find on a map. Outside of real estate, Dan is a huge sports fan and a die-hard Illini basketball and football fan. He lives and dies with Chicago sports, so if you want to talk real estate, the Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks, or Illinois basketball, he’s your guy.

Dan is building his business alongside Marc Zale at Compass, an award-winning real estate professional who has sold more than $200 million in real estate throughout his career. The partnership brings together Dan’s marketing and client-focused approach with Marc’s extensive experience, market knowledge, and deep network across Chicago and the North Shore.

Dan’s style is pretty simple: be honest, be responsive, know your stuff, and don’t take yourself too seriously. Real estate can be complicated and stressful enough without making it harder than it needs to be. He prides himself on being someone his clients can call, ask questions, get a straight answer from, and know will have their back.

For Dan, the move into real estate full-time was about turning something he genuinely enjoys into a career. He loves meeting people, learning what makes them tick, solving problems, and helping clients navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives. His goal is simple: make the process feel a little less overwhelming, a lot more personal, and ultimately help his clients make a decision they feel great about.
