My husband and I were first-time homebuyers but had engaged in the home-buying process a few times before because we were originally convinced that we wanted to buy a home in California. Once we decided on a home, we entered into a contract for a new build. Darrell didn't ditch us at that point, which was our past experience when we were working with a realtor in California a few years ago. He stuck with us and was still happy to answer our questions, attend meetings, and help give us perspective on what to prioritize when it came to the home design options.
Once we had been in the contract for a couple of months, they disclosed something about the house that we could not accept. We backed out of the contract and started back at square one. There was no guilt trip at all from Darrell about this--he encouraged us to do whatever we thought was best and he would continue to help us. We saw more areas and almost entered into a contract for a different house when we finally decided to go with the same builder, same neighborhood, and just choose a different house. Darrell supported us throughout the entire journey. He would drive by as they were building, ask questions, and follow up when the builder lapsed in communication.
There were many situations we ran into while building during the COVID-19 pandemic, for example:
--Vital board meetings were delayed for months that needed to approve our plans because of the heritage tree that sits on our lot
--The builder began building the wrong floor plan
--The significant delay due to the lumber shortage/ supply chain disruptions

If Darrell wasn't willing to partner with us as we navigated these issues, the house would've been ready even later than it already was (8 months later than promised; an entire year after we entered into contract). Darrell called the builder, communicated with the construct manager, pushed back when the builder wanted us to accept the incorrect floor plan (which would've left us with 3 bedrooms instead of 4) and relayed all the information to us in a timely manner.
When it was all said and done, we worked with Darrell for almost exactly 2 years. He was kind, responsive, flexible, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Darrell has been such a pleasure that he feels like family now! We highly recommend working with Darrell and will definitely be calling him when it's time for us to move again!!!" - Candace S.
