Known for his wit and honesty, David doesn’t hesitate to tell a client when to keep a house as an investment or when to walk away from a purchase. He exceeds his clients’ expectations, as evidenced by his long-term relationships with homeowners, investors and developers who turn to him time and again for his invaluable real estate advice.

Before moving to real estate in 2002, David worked in the hotel industry, ran a call center and helped launch multiple startups. This entrepreneurial spirit and fervent customer service were a natural fit with Compass, where David helped expand the brokerage to its second market as a founding member of Compass D.C. With experience in large and boutique real estate firms, David chose Compass for the unique way they integrate technology into the process of buying and selling to the benefit of his clients.

David is truly local having grown up in northern Virginia, attending college locally and making his home in vibrant Logan Circle. He loves to travel and heads to his happy place in Puerto Vallarta whenever time allows. In his spare time in D.C., you’ll find him buried in his Kindle or enjoying the amenities of the various neighborhoods throughout the DMV.  David is still proud to be an Eagle Scout.







In 2002, he began as a buyer’s agent a Coldwell Banker office in Washington, DC, distinguishing himself with the personal attention with which he showed his clients. In 2005, after a of conversations and transactions where the clients on different sides of the table, he partnered with a local agent competing , Mandy Mills, and joined the brand new boutique agency, Hounshell Real Estate.

In 2006, they added their first assistant and in 2007, officially became the Mandy David Team, in response to the demands of the marketplace. With their business continuing to grow, they moved three blocks to the downtown Coldwell Banker office in 2011, which offered them both more resources and the strength of the ’s international name recognition.

In 2011, they were the #1 Coldwell Banker in DC and were included in the Wall Street ’s list of the Top 250 Real Estate Teams in the Country, with just over $51 Million in sales. In 2012, they topped $100 Million in sales, placing them in the Top 10 of Coldwell Banker nationwide and at #90 in the country on the Wall Street list.
