About Dawn

I was born in New Jersey, but Sarasota has been home since 1976 — which means I've spent nearly fifty years getting to know every corner of this community. When people ask me about a neighborhood, I'm not reading off a spec sheet. I watched most of these places get built.
My real estate career started before I even had a license. My husband was a homebuilder, and I began decorating his model homes — learning the craft of how a well-designed space makes people fall in love with a property. That led me to get my real estate license, and eventually my Certified Building Contractor's license. By the time I was selling homes professionally, I had already lived inside every stage of the process: design, construction, and sale.
That background gives me an end-to-end understanding of property that most agents simply don't have. I can walk through a home with you and talk about construction quality, layout tradeoffs, what's worth the price, and what isn't.
I work with buyers, sellers, and investors throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties, including Lakewood Ranch, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, and surrounding communities. My specialties are luxury homes, new construction, and relocation. A large part of my business comes from repeat clients and referrals — people who came back, and people they sent my way — which I take as the truest measure of the job.

Outside of work, I'm married to David Merrill, former mayor of Sarasota, and we have three children. Life here is full.
In the garden, I tend over 80 rose bushes — it's meditative in a way that nothing else quite is. Creatively, I'll try just about any art form I can get my hands on; fused glass is a current favorite, but the real answer is that if it involves making something, I'm in. I love to entertain — there is nothing better than a house full of people. I read constantly. And recently I discovered mahjong, which I will warn you I am completely addicted to.
