About Thomas

Tom arrived in the DC metro area in 1992 after graduating from the University of Richmond. He worked in the tech consulting industry for three years before returning to earn his MBA at the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. After business school, Tom returned to our nation's capital to continue in his tech consulting career for a few years, until beginning to yearn for a more passionate life’s work.

In the beginning of 2003, Tom left the tech world to begin a more meaningful career path—helping people find "a place to call home.” Since Tom became a licensed realtor in DC, MD, and VA, he has proudly helped his clients buy or sell homes, and generally pursue their pursuit of personal happiness.

Tom believes purchasing a home should be a fun and exciting process for buyers while selling a house should be an easy and streamlined process for every seller. From 2006 to 2014, Tom was the number one agent in the Washington, DC RE/MAX network when he formed his own elite team of passionate realtors. Since joining Compass, The Tom Buerger Team has continued to deliver a world-class customer experience predicated on hard work, compassion, and loyalty.
