Genie made buying our first home a delightful process. From as early as I can remember, buying a home of my own was one of my most important goals. I always dreamt of a place of my own to grow memories, build a family and have friends and family reunite for generations. Before we were ready to seriously consider any homes, I did some research online and came across the Genie and Ilia team and I immediately knew somehow that they were the right ones to help my husband and I. On a Saturday morning last April 2022, Genie and Ilia drove down to a coffee shop near our apartment in downtown D.C. and my hunch was validated: Genie and Ilia made a knowledgeable, sharp, insightful, and patient team. I was so excited to work with them in finding our dream house. When the time was right (a few months later in late August of 2022), we picked up the phone and contacted Genie and Ilia again. I was extremely specific and knew what I wanted - and Genie and Ilia worked around my guidance with ease and enthusiasm - they also helped me keep my options open.
Within about 3 months and only having seen 1 or 2 houses in person, we found THE house of our dreams. When we first saw it, it was clear it needed a lot of work, but Genie and Ilia, like me, were able to see the potential. I was over the moon excited. Genie and Ilia just fed off our enthusiasm: they helped us find an architect who was part of the historic board to advise on renovations and additions, they helped us find a structural engineer to advise on structural integrity, and they connected us to an excellent home inspector who walked the property with us multiple times. While guiding us through every step of the process with patience and positivity, we felt comfortable enough to put in an offer. There was NOT ONE question Genie and Ilia did not know the answer to.
Then the fun began: Genie superbly negotiated our offer and steered the negotiation process with difficult sellers and even found us a better lender than what my own research yielded. She also connected us to home-insurance professionals and walked us through our contract making the contract and closing process as smooth as possible... a process which I know can be super stressful. Genie was available 24/7 for us, answering the littlest question with patience and kindness. She made it all make sense.
After the contract closed, and just before we moved in, Genie helped us find plumbers, cleaners, repairmen to fix a broken window and even came by to put a insulator on an outdoor hose faucet. Oh! And she also even made us extra keys! My husband and I were incredibly grateful for the level of attention to detail matched by true kindness in this big step. We could absolutely not be happier in our first house and it's all thanks to Genie and Ilia.
I am convinced you will not find a better team in the DMV region to take care of your real-estate needs. Genie and Ilia are sharp, hard-working, responsive, talented, patient... and are great listeners. They combine artistic vision with financial acumen; they pair business savvy with excellent personal skills.
