"Janet is a gem. I met her on July of 2024, during an open house in Durham. She had staged a house and my family loved it. She helped us prepare an offer for the property, and taught us all that we know about acquiring real estate in the U.S. We ended up not getting this house because someone else's offer was higher. Janet did not give up and was always updated on the properties that came into the market and shared them promptly with us. Janet has an expert eye and knows what to look for in a property to make sure all is in acceptable condition. She is also honest, reliable, knowledgeable, considerate and friendly. I signed an agreement to work with her as a realtor that expired on December of 2024, but when I found a house I liked on March of 2025, I called her right away to ask her to be by my side. She came within an hour of my call, we walked through the property and she pointed out several details that I had missed. That same afternoon she helped me prepare an offer, which was accepted that evening. I felt confident every step of the way, because Janet was available all the time to answer questions, to negotiate on my behalf, and to suggest contractors to take care of the many details that arise when purchasing a pre-owned home. All of this Janet did in an impeccable, honest and caring manner. I fully recommend her, she is a credit to Compass and to herself and I am honored and thankful to have met her.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Los Angeles since the age of three, Janet never imagined calling anywhere else home—until she discovered North Carolina. After earning her undergraduate degree from UCLA, she attended Duke’s Fuqua School of Business in 2012, where she fell in love with the warmth, diversity, and welcoming spirit of the Triangle. She quickly knew this was more than a temporary stop—it was home.
In 2013, Janet met her husband—a Durham native—and together they’ve built a joyful life with their two young children and a grumpy, beloved old cat. North Carolina is now her forever home.
Janet is the founder and owner of ZenFish Poke Bar, a Hawaiian-inspired, sustainability-driven restaurant with two Durham locations. ZenFish is known for its inclusive atmosphere, vibrant flavors, and mission to promote kindness, compassion, and human connection in everything it serves.
Her passion for helping people also led her into the world of real estate. Janet is a licensed agent in both North Carolina and California, working with clients on both coasts.
