About Rafael

PASSIONATE ~ PROFESSIONAL ~ PERSONABLE

Born and raised in New Orleans, Rafael de Castro is a proud LSU graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1989. Since then, he has called Baton Rouge home. With over 40 years of experience in Business Development and Non-Profit Management, Rafael brings a unique combination of leadership, compassion, and community commitment to the real estate world.

For the past twelve years, Rafael has served as Executive Director for two Baton Rouge-based nonprofits. He spent three years leading Youth Oasis, a shelter for homeless children, and the last nine years heading the Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault. His dedication to advocacy and service reflects his deep-rooted passion for helping others—a passion that now fuels his work in real estate at COMPASS.

The son of Cuban immigrants, Rafael is fluent in Spanish and proud of his heritage. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, barbecuing, and staying active as an avid cyclist and runner.

Rafael has been married to his wife Kim since 1989. They have one son, Nick.
