About Jim
Jim Lucarelli has over 34 years of experience in the Telluride real estate market. For 18 years he owned and operated Real Estate Affiliates of Telluride, one of the region’s top boutique real estate offices, with his wife Virginia. In early 2020 Jim was invited to join Compass. This association gives him national exposure and access to some of the finest technology and marketing professionals in the U.S. Jim is also a member of the Compass Ranch & Land and Compass Resort Divisions.

Jim is a 4-time past president of the Telluride Association of Realtors and is one of three agents in the market to be recognized by the Telluride Association of Realtors as its Realtor of the Year three times. Jim is fluent in all aspects of Telluride real estate and prides himself on a vast array of market knowledge you can’t find online. He particularly enjoys working with area ranch properties. In the summer time he manages just under 1000 acres of agricultural land in the Telluride area and raises grass finished beef that is sold at local farmer's markets. 

Jim takes pride in providing personalized service backed by extensive expertise and is an active member of the Telluride Multiple Listing Service (MLS), the Colorado Real Estate Network (CREN), Realtor's Land Institute (RLI) and the Telluride Association of Realtors. These associations allow him to introduce clients to any and all of the properties listed in the region or across the western slope.

Jim moved to Telluride in 1990 after a seven-year career on Wall Street. A former Associate Vice President with Citibank and member of the New York Commodities Exchange who traded in gold futures, Jim has a strong investment-oriented background, having worked in both commodities and finance.

Jim is currently on the board of the Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club and President of the Telluride Fire Protection District (an elected position). He is the former President of One to One (Telluride's version of Big Brothers/Big Sisters) and served on the Telluride Association of Realtors Board of Directors for 20 years before stepping aside in 2022. He has also served on boards for the West Meadows, the Telluride Pilots Association, Deep Creek Ranches HOA, the Nature Conservancy's local branch and as a member of Telluride's Planning and Zoning Committee. He is also a retired member of the Telluride Volunteer Fire Department, having held the titles of Lieutenant and Captain prior to retiring after 20 years of service.

A native of Rumson, New Jersey, Jim attended Roanoke College in Virginia. He now lives on Deep Creek Ranch with his wife, Virginia, and two daughters. When he's not busy selling real estate he can often be found flying, fishing, hiking, riding his horses, managing his cattle, hunting or skiing.
