About John

As a Realtor for nearly a decade (and a 30-year resident of Washington, D.C.), John has great knowledge of the area's diverse neighborhoods and an extensive, proven track record of helping buyers and sellers successfully navigate the sometimes turbulent, fast-moving D.C. sales market.

John has worked extensively with an array of clients, including first-time homebuyers; short and long-term sellers seeking to establish their lives in a different neighborhood or outside of D.C.; parents seeking to move closer to loved ones; newlyweds seeking to upsize; empty-nesters seeking to downsize; seniors seeking to divest of their real estate holdings; diplomats seeking long-term housing during their multi-year tenures in the city, etc. John has managed 130+ sales transactions ranging from $350,000 to $2,100,000.

Born in MA and raised in NH, John received his BA in English and Communications from Boston College. Prior to joining Compass, he gained 20-years+ in-depth experience leading sales, marketing, public relations and corporate communications efforts at publicly-traded companies such as JPMorgan Chase, Convera and Teleglobe (formerly Canada's largest international telecom company). 

In his spare time, John serves as Condo Board President of the 68-unit building where he resides, and manages the @AdamsMorganNews Instagram and Twitter/X accounts for his neighborhood. John also enjoys photography, travel, writing and arts/entertainment. He has travelled to nearly 30 countries and lived in Kuwait for three years following the first Gulf War. 

Since moving to DC in 1993, John has resided in Chevy Chase (DC), Cleveland Park, Dupont Circle, Mount Pleasant, Penn Quarter, and currently in Adams Morgan for 20+ years. In prior professions, he has worked out of offices based in Dupont Circle, Georgetown, McPherson Square and Logan Circle, as well as Dulles, Reston and Tysons Corner, VA.
