For Jonathan Lavoie, real estate has always been about something more than property. It is about people — who they are, how they live, and what a home means to them at this particular moment in their lives. That conviction has defined his practice at Compass for nearly a decade and built a practice rooted in genuine human connection, where relationships consistently outlast the deals that began them.
Jonathan came to real estate after a successful career as the director of a leading international contemporary art gallery — an experience that gave him an expert eye for architecture, design, and aesthetic sensibility; a fluency in the language of sophisticated taste; and a natural instinct for understanding what a space means to the person standing in it. He began his real estate career at Stribling & Associates, whose reputation for integrity and quiet excellence aligned perfectly with his own, before joining Compass, where he has continued to build one of the firm's most relationship-driven practices.
He works across Manhattan and Brooklyn, specializing in design-forward properties at every level of the market — from carefully considered co-ops to landmark townhouses and exceptional new development. His approach is the same regardless of scale: thorough preparation, honest counsel, and an anticipatory ability to understand what a client needs — or what a deal requires — before it has fully presented itself. Born and raised on Long Island and a longtime New Yorker, Jonathan graduated from Syracuse University with a B.A. in Art History and continued graduate studies in London. He lives with his wife, Ashley, and their three children, Jude, Noah, and Vivienne.
