"Great experience. Judy practiced great communication, sharing actions & options with me and responding quickly to my calls and texts. She was a true partner in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of our property and strategizing how to make it more attractive to prospective buyers. She was always on hand to help guide me through the paperwork etc. of selling the property and always responsive to our concerns. I don't know how many times she had to go show our property, in rain or shine, but she always cheerfully reported on the viewings. Really, the ideal realtor for our property." -Molly

"Judy Howard has been an amazing realtor for us. She is knowledgeable, efficient and highly effective. We have relied on her expertise in finding our dream house as well as her ability to help us then close escrow. She has been extremely supportive and kind through our entire journey. We couldn't be any more pleased with our realtor, Judy Howard and would highly recommend her to anyone needing a realtor." - Charlie and Sherry

"Judy was a fantastic resource from the very beginning for us! We are first time homebuyers and had no knowledge of the process, so we had a TON of questions. Judy took the time to answer all of our questions, even before we were actively looking to purchase a home. During our journey to becoming homeowners, Judy was mindful and explained every step we were going to be taking together. When we had questions, she always had a prompt answer for us and kept us in the loop every step of the way. She brought up issues to look into that we had never thought to look at. We connected with Judy from the very beginning. Her knowledge of the island, experience and love for the island let us know we had someone always looking out for us. Judy is an invaluable person to have on your side when buying a home." - Danielle

"For several years, my wife and I have been interested in buying property on the Big Island with our eventual return to Hawai'i in mind. We have asked Judy for guidance on Big Island real estate several times over the last five years. Judy has lived and worked on the Big Island for most of her life and her familiarity with the various island communities combined with her knowledge of the practical, business, and legal aspects of life there has made her advice indispensable. She has a knack for getting to the heart of the matter that has really made our search efficient and enjoyable."

"Judy helped us purchase a home in a very hot seller's market. She did not pressure us in making any decisions, in fact she cautioned us against moving too quickly. That being said, when we decided to make an offer on a house she took the bull by the horns as was able to process the offer and get it out that same day! She is a go-getter. If we had another realtor we might still be looking for a home."

"Judy has been great to work with. Very personable, fast response time, and she's been really creative and persistent in helping me find the house and location I want. She has a good knowledge of the area. I also like that she has a legal background. It helps me feel assured that the whole contracting process will go well."

About Judy S
Judy is an attorney, a Realtor/Broker, and a Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert

She was born in the Territory of Hawaii and has lived there for most of her life.

Horses have always been part of Judy's life.  When she was very young, she and her friends would swim their horses in the ocean at Malaekahana, on Oahu.   At the moment she has six horses.  Some are rescues, and some have special needs, but every once in a while she has time to get on one or another of them.

Judy's family moved to Waimea, on the Big Island of Hawaii, around 1970, but she remained on Oahu to complete her schooling at Punahou. Of course, she spent almost every weekend and holiday in Waimea. After graduating from Punahou in 1972, and a brief tour of Europe, she attended the University of Hawaii and then the University of Colorado School of Law.

She practiced Water Law in Colorado for several years, and then returned to Honolulu, where she practiced Maritime Law.  She enjoyed both areas of law tremendously, but Water Law was not an option in Hawaii, and Admiralty Law was not an option once she moved to Waimea in 1997, where her husband had taken a position as the first Orthopedic Surgeon with the new North Hawaii Community Hospital. She started up and ran his very successful orthopedic practice while raising their daughter and managing their 50-acre off-grid property.

Judy served on the Hawaii County Board of Water Supply for a few years, and continues to do pro-bono work for public interest organizations.  She volunteers as a mentor at Waimea Intermediate and as an attorney for the Self Help Desk for divorce litigants. She does a little bit of divorce work and is a member of the Family Law and Child Law Sections of the Hawaii State Bar Association.

Judy was thrilled to join Compass – an organization that shares her commitment to providing the very best service to its clients and customers.
