About Katharine

“The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain

That is a quote Katharine Brown included in a cookbook she wrote (titled COOKBOOK: First we add some heavy cream & then we lighten it up with some butta’) that can be ordered from any bookstore. The title comes from a night out with some friends in New Orleans. She likes the quote because she believes life is a journey, and the journey she has been on led her to love houses. Which is why she sees helping people buy and sell homes as much more than a financial transaction.

When she was growing up, her family moved quite a bit. And her most memorable home was an architect designed house in Deephaven with a dock on Lake Minnetonka’s Carson’s Bay. It is where she truly fell in love with architecture and interior design and developed a passion for homes and the art world.

Most important to her, however, are family and friends. Which is why her cookbook is filled with treasured family recipes and her go-to entertaining recipes. Some of her friends call her the “hostess with the mostest” and the kids in her life call her Auntie Cupcake.

She takes great pride in everything she does and will always go the extra inch to take care of her customers, colleagues, friends, and family. She operates on integrity and a strong will to excel, and is not afraid of taking on a new project or challenge. Which is why she loves real estate.

She received a B.A. in Journalism with minors in Business and Philosophy from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and along with her skills in marketing, advertising, interior design, sales, negotiations, telecommunications, and real estate, she has extensive hands-on knowledge and expertise in working with government licensing and regulatory
agencies.

She currently works in the telecommunications industry in sales management, supporting direct and indirect sales, as well as engineering, where, on a daily basis, she works with Fortune 500 companies, as well as some of the largest healthcare organizations in the state of Minnesota. She works with key decision makers and works diligently and carefully to navigate her clients through challenging and stressful decisions.

In the beginning, she worked for the largest deal-a-day company in the world, recruiting some of the oldest and most established restaurants in Minnesota, along with boat cruise companies and airlines, earning enough to purchase her first home in Southwest Minneapolis.

She now lives in Minnetonka with her husband, Craig, and her black and white cat named Molly, who is exceptional at knocking things off counters and tables. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, biking, entertaining, antique shopping, interior design, staging, painting, remodeling projects, traveling, boating, kayaking, dining out, camping, spending time in the BWCA, working in her garden, sewing, crafting, and cooking. She also loves spending time with her nephew, Luca, and her nieces Callie and Maddie.
