Kristal Moffett

A third-generation Angeleno, Kristal Moffett has built her real estate practice the way she believes the best businesses are built in Los Angeles: through relationships, discretion and trust.

Born in Hollywood and raised in Los Feliz, Kristal has an instinctive understanding of Los Angeles—its neighborhoods, architecture, history and creative culture. Her knowledge extends across the city, from Los Feliz, Whitley Heights and the Hollywood Hills to Beverly Hills, the Westside and Malibu.

Before real estate, Kristal began her professional life in the film industry. She worked in publicity at Columbia Pictures and with renowned publicist Annett Wolf before joining Miramax Pictures during its formative years in Hollywood, working on films including Pulp Fiction, Robert Altman’s Ready to Wear and Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures. It was an early education in storytelling and presentation, but just as importantly, in relationships, judgment and knowing when discretion matters more than attention. Those instincts remain central to her real estate practice today.

Kristal has never built her business around being the loudest person in the room. Her network has been cultivated over decades, and much of her work comes through personal relationships, referrals and introductions. She understands that in Los Angeles, particularly among clients in the creative community, some of the most meaningful transactions never become public stories. Discretion isn't an added service; it is fundamental to the way she works. Sometimes the most important tool an agent has is simply knowing whom to call—and having that person take the call. Just as important is knowing what should remain private.

Her appreciation for architecture is equally personal. Kristal and her family spent years restoring an original Spanish home in historic Hollywoodland. Later years living in New York, London and Johannesburg broadened her perspective on architecture, design and the ways a home can reflect the lives lived within it. Throughout her real estate career, Kristal has developed a particular affinity for properties with architectural character, provenance and a meaningful place in Los Angeles history. Her work has included residences connected to some of the most influential figures in American film.

Among them is the longtime Hollywood Hills home of independent-film pioneers John Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands. For more than six decades, the property was both a family residence and a creative sanctuary—a place where the couple raised their children and where films were conceived, edited and made. Kristal represented the property when it came to market for the first time since the Cassavetes-Rowlands family acquired it.

Her work also reflects longstanding relationships with properties associated with the Coppola family, including homes connected to Francis Ford Coppola and Roman Coppola, as well as the historic Whitley Heights residence where filmmaker Gia Coppola grew up.

These are noteworthy homes, but Kristal does not define them—or her clients—by the names attached to them. What interests her is the story of a property: its architecture, setting, history, emotional resonance and the life that has unfolded within its walls. That philosophy extends to every client she represents. Kristal approaches real estate as a personal advisory relationship rather than simply a transaction. She listens carefully, protects her clients’ privacy and brings together an intimate knowledge of Los Angeles, a discerning eye and a network developed over a lifetime in the city.

Kristal has also made a deliberate choice to remain an independent agent rather than build a large team. Buyers and sellers work directly with her throughout the process. Independent, however, does not mean working alone.
