Libby began in the real estate trade in 1994. Though it now seems that the Brooklyn market only goes up, it has cycled up and down 3 times in the last 21 years. Happily, the overall trend is up. In the last 5 years or so, the world has come to understand how desirable it is to live in Brooklyn. Libby attributes that to the fact that our neighborhoods are filled with people who live here full time, send their children to our schools, and increasingly, work here. The roots we put down make for authentic neighborhoods, in direct contrast with the trend in Manhattan toward absentee ownership.
Libby’s specialty has always been the Brooklyn townhouse. Brownstones, lime stones, brick, and clapboard houses, from small South Slope frame to majestic Brooklyn Heights Federal style, and in all neighborhoods – these are her passion. She has represented too many buyers and sellers to count in townhouse transactions. Renovated or ready for a re-do, she helps every step of the way and loves doing so.
Co-op and condo apartments have also made up a large part of Libby’s real estate practice. The approval process can be tricky and the renovation requirements are complicated in co-ops and condos, but Libby offers guidance throughout. Many of her clients have exchanged townhouses for apartments and apartments for townhouses. Those complex transactions can be challenging because there are so many parties involved, all with different needs. Libby thrives in that situation.
The following quotes are from clients of Libby’s over the years:
“When we listed our brownstone with Libby Ryan we knew that it would sell at a high price AND that she would only bring legitimate buyers to see it.”
“When Libby showed us co-ops, she made sure that we were fully prepared for the entire process, including the financing. Also, she only showed us great places – not just whatever was out there.”
“When we were selling the family house after my parents passed, Libby was invaluable in arranging to empty the house and also in negotiating a happy result despite the nutty sibling relationships.”
“When it was time for a bigger place, we noticed that our current home was a mess! Libby connected us with professionals who staged it so that it looked wonderful. We could never have done that on our own.”
Libby has lived on Third Street in Park Slope for 30+ years with her husband; they raised two sons there. They also spend time in Bellport, L.I. Libby has a BA from Muhlenberg College and an MBA from Cornell University. She hopes this bio has been helpful to you. Questions are always welcome, at firstname.lastname@example.org OR 718.355.8402.
