Ly is proud to call San Francisco her home. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, cooking, practicing yoga, watching independent films, conducting occasional retail therapy and enjoying all of the great activities and food that San Francisco and the Bay Area have to offer.

Ly is very passionate about giving back to her community. She strongly believes that the best way to personally know and serve your community is to be an active part of it. Ly volunteers her time at the Asian American Bar Association/Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach clinics in San Francisco and Oakland, where she provides pro bono legal services to low-income families and community members. Ly serves on the Board of Directors for the Vietnamese American Community Center of the East Bay. Ly had served as Communications Chair for the San Francisco Auxiliary of the Fine Arts Museums and a Co-Director of the San Francisco Garden Club.
