About Marc
I am a lifelong resident of the NYC metro area, and have been delighted to call Park Slope my home for over 20 years.  It is a fantastic place to live for those who want a refuge from the frenetic pace of Manhattan while still enjoying a short commute to work and easy access to all that city life has to offer. The vibrancy and cohesiveness of Brooklyn neighborhoods is unparalleled, and I can help you become a part of that experience.

After graduating from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, I moved back to the city and pursued a number of opportunities that built the foundation for my real estate career. A decade of working in retail sales management prepared me well to assess and meet the needs of a diverse clientele.  In addition, over seven years of experience in high-end full-service residential interior/exterior design and custom fine furnishings has afforded me with the skills to help you find the home that best suits your lifestyle, or to assist you in enhancing the resale potential of your current property.

I built my career as a founding member and, later, co-leader of one of the most successful medium-sized teams in Brooklyn before forging out on my own in 2024.  I’m excited to build upon nearly 15 years of achievements by devoting more time to my own clients and growing my business.

I'm committed to listening carefully to your needs to provide you with an efficient and consistent experience. My clients and colleagues know me for my direct communication and finely-honed organizational and analytical skills.  My approach is warm, personable, engaging, accessible, and quintessentially professional - a trusted partner in your real estate deal with a passion for the people and the places I serve.

I currently reside with my husband Matt and our pugs Rita & Rosco in the South Slope, my favorite place in the world. In addition to my full-time real estate career I am an avid runner, cook, and a homemaker, and I’m also involved in local progressive politics.  I believe in the value of diversity, and the sanctity of our democracy as enshrined in the US Constitution.

Client Testimonials

"I chose Marc as my realtor after his success selling previously in my building.  I heard great things about him, and those qualities were immediately evident from the moment we first spoke on the phone.  Not only is Marc amazing to work with in every way (pleasant, attentive, communicative, honest, knowledgeable -- I could go on!); he is extremely good at what he does and helped me navigate a very difficult board and building situation with expertise and finesse.  The stress of selling this particular property was a bit overwhelming and there were lots of moving parts to consider (from difficult people to crazy lawsuits).  Marc always made me feel heard and well cared for every step of the way.  Though we were planning to list the apartment publicly in spring, he got me a great off-market deal before that -- an all-cash buyer, and it was a smooth, easy process from the offer to the closing.  Whether you're looking to buy or sell, I can't recommend him highly enough!"  - Valerie

"I had the privilege of working with Marc and his team to sell my Cobble Hill co-op, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience and outcome.  Marc demonstrated a deep understanding of the real estate market and tailored his approach to meet my needs.  He provided me with real data as well as information gleaned from his experience so that I could make informed decisions.  His attention to detail and unwavering commitment to my best interests were truly impressive.  He made a potentially stressful process enjoyable, and I felt confident, well informed, and cared for at every step. Thanks to his efforts my apartment was presented beautifully, and it sold quickly and at a great price.  I wholeheartedly recommend Marc to guide you through this process.  He will get it done!"  - Beth

"Marc is highly knowledgeable, trustworthy, and on it. He's more like a skilled project manager than an agent... he's helped us so much to not only find a home, but to assemble a team of attorneys and mortage lenders. His expertise has made this otherwise helter-skelter ride smooth sailing. Would recommend him to anyone!"  - Zak

"If you're looking to buy property in Brooklyn, you should hire Marc Karavasian. When you work with Marc, you can be sure that he is invested in finding you the *right* place -- not just the place he can find you the fastest -- and making sure you get it for a fair and reasonable price. He is an advocate, a resource, and a friend -- and frankly, you're going to need it. I set out to buy an apartment in south Brooklyn after renting here for 7 years. I was financially secure -- employed, with 40% to put down -- and realistic about what I could afford. But this is a tough market, and it ended up taking a full year to find our place. Throughout the many open houses, viewing appointments, offers, and counteroffers, Marc was tireless, pleasant, and optimistic. He asked all the right questions, and came to understand what I was looking for almost better than I did. He always got back to me quickly, and he always gave it to me straight -- a welcome change after working with other brokers. On a more personal note, I knew that NYC real estate is aggressive, but I wasn't willing to compromise my ethics or work with someone who would. Marc was not only knowledgeable, efficient, and hardworking -- he was and is a decent person, which is important to me."  - Sandya

"Marc Karavasian was a pleasure to work with. He dug deep into his listings to accommodate my own & group's preferences and budget, going far above & beyond. Marc's been professional, informative & friendly - out of the 20+ agents I've worked with during various searches, he's light years ahead, in terms of customer service, reliability, helpfulness, and respectfulness. There was none of the overly pushiness that some agents have, so I felt like we were in good hands. Most of all, I appreciated Marc's patience/agility while my group & I weighed our options. Marc thought on his feet and presented us a portfolio of a wide array of listings. His competence and commitment to ensuring us a great space really set him apart from others. Highly recommended, as Marc guided us through the process - we couldn't have done it without him! " - Zeke

"Marc Karavasian and his team at Compass are the real deal. Marc and his associate Sophie spent a great deal of time to ensure I was comfortable with every step of the process. The momentum they bring to the deal is invaluable and you feel that someone is taking your real-estate transaction as seriously as you are. A big thank you to Marc and his team for a top-notch experience!" - Abbas

"I cannot recommend Marc more highly to anyone buying or selling an apartment in Brooklyn! We worked with Marc to buy our current dream apartment and to sell our previous one. As a buyer’s agent, Marc always had the inside scoop, or was able to get it. He was also able to help us get real when we had stars in our eyes and couldn't accurately assess how an apartment would or would not meet our needs. This is so important because the Brooklyn market is very tight, and you can get carried away in a kind of frenzy almost when you find something in your budget and ideal location. This meant helping us understand that a chic new construction with a washer and dryer was actually smaller than what we were living in, and we had been really clear that we needed more space. Or that a contractor's special in the most amazing location, but abutting the garbage storage area, was not what was going to work for us if we wanted open windows and light. Eventually, our perfect place came on the market- perfect location, didn't need any work, tons of space and light, low monthly cc's, dog friendly and within our budget. Marc coached us to get in the right offer at the right time and within a few days we were in contract! This is truly amazing, because it can be really easy to get outbid if you don't have unlimited resources. Anyway, now we live in that perfect place and couldn't be happier. Marc was also able to give us great referrals for all the related services we needed, like a mortgage broker and attorney. Working with people who Marc had vetted gave us confidence in our choices. Marc also helped us sell our previous apartment. Marc's interior design expertise was in full effect as he staged our home beautifully. He also helped us be realistic in setting the sales price. Thanks to this, we had an offer after our first weekend open house! Marc was also able to appreciate and highlight the special features of our apartment, so that our appraisal reflected the additional value these elements added. When our management company was not being responsive to our requests, Marc made numerous trips to their office to speak with them personally and help us get what we needed to close on time! Thanks to Marc, we recovered an amazing value on our investment.." - Lailah and Anthony
