For Mary Illes, real estate has always been about more than buying and selling homes. It’s about helping people navigate what comes next.
With more than 15 years in real estate and two decades in the technology industry before that, Mary brings experience, energy, problem-solving and a very personal approach to every client she serves. Working throughout Annapolis and the greater DC metropolitan area, she helps everyone from first-time buyers and growing families to longtime homeowners preparing for their next chapter.
Mary is known for making complicated situations feel manageable. She is a strong negotiator, hands-on problem solver and trusted advocate who pays attention to the details while keeping the bigger picture in focus. Whether preparing a home for market, competing for the right property or coordinating the many moving pieces of a major move, her goal is to make the process easier and less overwhelming.
Over the years, Mary has developed a particular passion and expertise in helping older adults and their families. She understands that decisions about a longtime home often begin well before someone is ready to sell. Is it time to downsize? Could the current home be adapted to make aging in place easier? Would moving closer to family or exploring a new community make sense?
Mary helps clients understand their options without pressure to make a move. Her specialized education in senior housing, downsizing, aging in place and accessible home design, combined with a network of trusted professionals, allows her to help families create a plan and take it one step at a time.
Mary holds the CSHP, CSDC, CAPS, CSA and GRI designations.
Warm, upbeat and approachable by nature, Mary is equally comfortable being a fierce advocate at the negotiating table. Her philosophy is simple:
You don’t have to know what comes next. You just need to know where to start.
Mary lives and works in Annapolis while maintaining deep professional roots throughout Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. When she isn’t working, you’ll likely find her traveling, cooking, walking with her dog Finn, spending time with her grandchildren or enjoying the Chesapeake with her family.
