About Mary Jean
M.J. Koontz, MBA/DBA assists a diverse spectrum of buyers and sellers in growing real estate wealth. M.J. works with move up and seasoned investors as a global real estate advisor to help them grow their real estate portfolio. M.J. is an expert at analyzing income-producing properties, multi-state 1031 exchange and reverse exchange scenarios, owner-occupier SBA financed industrial property, multifamily properties and income producing vacation properties. Her major focus is on making real estate investment accessible to a broader segment of people.
Having grown up in Menlo Park, plus having lived and worked in Japan, MJ provides long-term relationship-based advice to all clients. She takes the time to sit and listen to each client's unique real estate investment goals, then works jointly to make those goals a reality. She works with corporations seeking to purchase assets, along with individuals seeking to dispose of assets. MJ holds a Ph.D from Golden Gate University, a MBA from USC and a BS from Georgetown University. Prior to her real estate career, she was CEO of STEMKIDS, a San Francisco-based educational-technology company.
Following a philosophy of a direct focus on the client, MJ gives 3% of her commission to the charity or organization of choice selected by each client, resulting in major donations to The Boys & Girls Club of the Silicon Valley, FEED America, an organization to educate teens about drug abuse and multiple local churches. She also volunteers tutoring foster young, donates to medical research charities, as well as the Alzheimer’s Association.
MJ enjoys swimming, mountain biking and skiing. She loves to travel and spend time with her family, when not working with her multiple clients.
