Like many real estate agents, Matt Smith came into the industry after succeeding in another. Pulled by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for Lake Tahoe, Matt’s work ethic, deal savvy, and business insight is a tremendous asset to Compass Lake Tahoe, and most importantly, to his buyers and sellers.
Matt was drawn to Tahoma from the Bay Area, where he worked in the financial industry for Credit Suisse Securities. There, as Director of Client Service, he developed a track record for cementing long-term client relationships, a clear reflection of his ability to spot and pave over obstacles before they could upend a transaction. Few traits are as essential to finalizing real estate deals as prescience, and Matt has that in spades.
Matt knows his way around a deal, having spent nearly 15 years working in financial services for Credit Suisse Securities in New York City and San Francisco prior to beginning his career in real estate. As a Director of Client Service for one of Wall Street's largest firms, he developed skills directly translate to building relationships and taking care of real estate clients and he is knowledgeable, experienced and professional.
At first a second home owner in Lake Tahoe, Matt and his wife Amy commuted weekends from their home in San Francisco to experience everything the region has to offer. And as many realize, it’s better when you live here. That experience translates into understanding buyer and seller lifestyle decisions, and what it’s like to buy from afar or enter a market unaware of its trends and nuances. Matt’s goal is to make these kind of transitions as seamless as possible. Now a full-fledged convert to life in Tahoe, Mat’s goal is to help Compass clients make informed buying and selling decisions. However, he may take as much pride in that as he does in recommending a secret powder stash or empty mountain bike trailhead.
