With more than 20 years of experience in Chicago real estate, Mauricio Ortiz specializes in rental and investment properties, working closely with landlords, investors, and property owners to successfully price, market, rent, and sell their properties. He also enjoys working with buyers, especially buyers looking for their first home. "It can be a fun and rewarding experience finding that perfect home together".
Mauricio begins each relationship by visiting the property and meeting personally with the owner. He takes time to understand their goals before presenting thoughtful pricing and marketing recommendations, ensuring that everyone is aligned from the beginning. His extensive experience, straightforward guidance, and ability to connect with a wide range of personalities help clients feel confident throughout the process.
Having grown up in the Chicago suburbs and developed extensive professional knowledge of the city’s North and Northwest Sides, Mauricio understands both urban and suburban markets. This broad perspective allows him to provide valuable insight to clients with different properties, priorities, and investment goals.
Before entering real estate, Mauricio spent nearly a decade working in the art business. From studying art history in college to managing his own gallery on Michigan Avenue. Working with many different types of people, from high-end art collectors to up and coming new artists, really helped develop his selling and communication skills. A friend later encouraged him to earn his real estate license and join a startup called Visual Properties, beginning a career that would eventually lead to one of his proudest professional milestones: A promotion to Director of operations at Apartment People Chicago and being featured on the cover of Crain’s Chicago Business.
Mauricio’s background in art continues to influence the way he presents and markets properties. With a passion for both art and photography, he personally captures many of the images used in his real estate listings, bringing a creative and carefully considered perspective to every property.
Outside of work, Mauricio enjoys exploring new restaurants with friend and spending time along Chicago’s lakefront, particularly biking and kayaking, and continues to pursue his lifelong interests in art and photography.
