About Max

Max Bennink isn't your typical real estate agent — and his clients will be the first to tell you.

After college, Max headed to New York City to work in finance. The career looked good on paper. The reality was something else. So when his brother invited him to visit Washington, DC, Max made the trip — and never really left. He fell in love with the city, its neighborhoods, and most of all, its people. That instinct for community has defined everything he has done here since.

Today, Max is a longtime Beekman Place resident with a network of relationships with the area's top agents that consistently opens doors — sometimes literally — before a home ever hits the market. For buyers, that means early access to off-market and pre-market opportunities that most agents never even hear about. For sellers, it means a quiet, strategic path to the right buyer without the disruption of a traditional listing process.

His background in finance gives him a sharp analytical edge, but what truly sets him apart is how he works. He is patient, deeply attentive, and genuinely invested in understanding what his clients are looking for — not just in a home, but in a life. He has spent over a year searching with a single buyer, lost offers along the way, and kept going until the right home appeared. He has sold listings in three days that had been sitting with little activity — through personal outreach, hustle, and the relationships he has built over years in this market.

Named Compass's #1 two-person team in the Washington region and featured in The New York Times, Max serves buyers and sellers across Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, specializing in luxury homes, first-time buyers, growing families, and military relocations.

When he's not working, you'll find Max in his garden or in the kitchen — two passions that, not unlike real estate, are really just about nurturing something and watching it flourish. It's no surprise that some of his best client relationships have been forged over a home-cooked meal at one of his monthly Beekman dinner parties, where neighbors rotate hosting at each other's homes every month.

Ask Max what he's most proud of, and he won't mention the records he's set or the deals he's closed. He'll tell you about the clients who became friends. The neighbors who joined his dinner party. The buyers who found exactly what they were looking for — and then some.

That's what this is really about.

After working with three different realtors who just weren't the right fit, landing with Max completely changed the game for us. The difference was night and day. Max is an absolute hustler who never stopped pushing to find us our dream first home. He is incredibly well-connected, which proved to be our secret weapon: he found us the perfect house in Beekman Place before it even hit the market, securing it at the right price.

Beyond his incredible work ethic and network, Max is just a wonderful, sweet person. He listened intently to exactly what we wanted, never wasted our time, and even took us out to celebrate in style once the deal was done. If you want an agent who listens, commands the local market, and gets results you can't find online, call Max. Thank you, Max!

Max was an outstanding realtor from start to finish. He consistently advocated for us and guided us through every step of the process with clarity and professionalism. His communication was excellent, and we always felt informed throughout the process. Thanks to his expertise, we found our dream home, completed the purchase, and moved in—all within a month. It was like magic!

We had such a great experience working with Max while searching for our first home in DC. Right from the start, Max took the time to truly listen and understand what we were looking for — not just in terms of square footage and amenities, but what would make a place feel like home and best align with our lifestyle. As first-time buyers, the process was naturally stressful at times, but Max’s steady guidance, responsiveness, and regular check-ins made everything feel far more manageable. In the tough and competitive DC market for single-family homes, that’s no easy feat.

What we appreciated most was how patient, upbeat, and hard-working Max was throughout. Even when we got outbid or things didn’t go our way, he kept us encouraged and focused, and was always ready to jump in with a new idea or opportunity. Thanks to his persistence and support, we ended up in a home we truly love. Our family is incredibly grateful to have had Max as our agent, and we’d recommend him to anyone — especially if you want someone in your corner who’s thoughtful, trustworthy, and genuinely wants the best for you and your family.

Working with Max was such a pleasure. I went into the process never having bought property before, and Max made everything easy, simple, and low-stress. He has deep knowledge of the DC market; he was extremely generous in sharing his knowledge and time; and he consistently anticipated (and addressed) questions and concerns I had as a first-time buyer.I feel very lucky to have met Max and to have had the opportunity to work with him on my first home purchase. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a home!

"Moving to an old folks home once one reaches 80 is a pretty traumatic experience but Max and Daniel held my hand and coached me to bid farewell to my beloved Beekman Place condo after living there over 20 years and loving every minute but I found I could no longer physically navigate the steps. Rather than roll their eyes at how dated the unit had become, they both offered incredibly useful suggestions as to what needed to be renovated, found me the best moving company in the area that handled my artwork with care, put no pressure on me timewise so that I could pack based on my own schedule, found an outstanding renovation crew to update and modernize my unit that has one of the best views of the US Capitol and the Washington Monument in all of DC, found a staging company that would put the best face possible on the completed unit, offered me updates on its progress and best of all, never made me feel like a bother when I needed a quick question answered or wanted another word of advice about the sale. They are honest, they know the real estate market so well and Max has a vested interest in Beekman because he own two units there and sits on the BOD as Treasurer. What more can any homeowner ask for in a realtor?"
